Presentation Requirements and Format
To present an oral presentation at the Virtual Meeting, presenters are required to prepare:
PowerPoint Presentation (pptx or ppt)
- Template: You are welcome to use your own PowerPoint template.
- Aspect ratio: 16:9 – How to change the size of your slides can be found here.
- Length: The time reserved for your oral presentation is 12 minutes. (9 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Q&A). For the Virtual Meeting it is very important to continue according to the set program. Please make sure your oral presentation is not longer than the time set for your presentation.
- A screenshot (png format) of a single ppt(x) slide that will be used to create a splash screen of all posters in a given session. There is no set format for this slide. Keep in mind that the purpose of the slide is to serve as “hook” for viewers to watch and engage with your poster presentation. The slide should contain enough information for the viewer to discern the topic. For ideas, please see samples here.
You have 2 options for presenting your abstract:
- You may submit a pre-recorded video, however you must still be available for questions following the presentation. In this case you will submit:
- PPT or PPTX Presentation – Filename: Podium_Presentation#.ppt(x)
- MP4 Video – Filename: Podium_Video#.mp4
- PNG splash screen – Filename: Podium_Screenshot#.png (Note – as a podium author, you can choose NOT to use this, in which case we will take a screenshot of your first slide ourselves.)
- You may also present live. If presenting live, you will be asked to attend a brief session prior to the conference to ensure that you are able to present from your computer without any technical difficulties. In this case you will submit:
- PPT or PPTX Presentation – Filename: Podium_Presentation#.ppt(x)
- PNG splash screen – Filename: Podium_Screenshot#.png (Note – as a podium author, you can choose NOT to use this, in which case we will take a screenshot of your first slide ourselves.)
If you are using Microsoft Office to create your pptx presentation and have videos embedded, please see this document for help in inserting them. Please do not use versions before Power Point 2016. Earlier versions of Power Point may not embed videos properly. For PowerPoint 2016 and newer versions, use mp4 formated video files encoded with H.264 video (a.k.a. MPEG-4 AVC) and AAC audio.
If you are using LibreOffice to create your pptx presentation and have videos, please see this document for help in inserting videos. It is generally safe to use mp4 format as with Microsoft Office. Older versions of LibreOffice may not save videos properly to pptx format.
All materials, including presentations, must be submitted by May 13th, 2022.
